Visitors to Neuenburg Castle can explore the museum entirely independently. It is, however, also possible to join a castle tour, during which a knowledgeable member of staff will accompany you around the mighty Neuenburg Castle. Each castle tour lasts about 50 minutes and introduces you to the history of the Thuringian landgraves, interesting aspects of the history of the castle’s construction and the peculiarities of the late Romanesque double chapel. The tour also leads through the Renaissance and Baroque chambers and the magnificent Fürstensaal, or chamber of the Electoral Princes.
On special children's tours, suitable from age five, we show our younger visitors the history of Neuenburg Castle in a playful, entertaining manner. After a stay in the “Children’s Chambers”, the little members of the royal household parade the great castle in historical attire, encountering, among other things, the mysterious “Woman in White”!
The audio guide provides an informative way for visitors to explore the museum individually. At a total of 23 audio exhibits, professional German voice artists tell stories with interesting narrative arcs, while the foreign-language versions are told by experienced native speakers.
